Hate, Rage, Vitriol, Barbarism, and Corruption is Taking Over Societal Norms
by Charles Pretlow 6/15/16
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of stress. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, fierce, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding the form of religion but denying the power of it. Avoid such people. 2 Timothy 3:1-6 RSV
Few Christians understand this prophetic warning given by the Apostle Paul. Most passively stroll through life flirting and even engaging in the last days’ dangers that are rapidly coming to America.
Unwilling to give up the belief that America will be saved from the Great Tribulation and the collapse of all civility, where the man of lawlessness rises to leadership out of the chaos of anarchy—instead most of God’s people drift along unprepared, in love with this present age. And still many more believers are arrogantly floating along carefree, fooled by the false doctrine that the rapture will come before all hell breaks loose. Study the following passages carefully:
“Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?” (2 Thessalonians 2:1-5).
Further Jesus warned of the hour that is now upon us: “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved” (Matthew 24:9-13).
Are You Prepared to Endure to the End?
The meltdown of civility is well on its way, where stress, lawlessness, hate, and savagery will increase and touch everyone as this age screams to its end. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way concerning how the end will play out and what Christ expects of his followers.
Few are taught by leadership and trained in the Lord’s discipline to detect and avoid the wicked disguised as good or to be led by the Holy Spirit to avoid and escape an evil event or an assault on one’s life. Even the majority of post-tribulation Christians—those who see all these things taking place and know they will have to be strong and prepared, lack the ability to endure to the end. Many of these solid believers think they are ready because they know the truth about the end. Unfortunately, knowing the truth about the end of this age does not prepare one to endure to the end.
Jesus warned specifically about having the strength to escape the end of the age catastrophes: “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man” (Luke 21:34-36).
Praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place does not mean that God will magically download power when you suddenly need it, praying at the last moment. Nor will God inundated you with spiritual manifestations that are supposedly from the Holy Spirit to magically destress and calm you. These activities and other acts of religiosity do not create inner strength of character or help develop an obedient and deep relationship with Christ that facilitates being led by the Holy Spirit in order to be protected and thus escape the terrible things that are already beginning.
To become ready is to become Christ-like in nature, not by self-power, but by the work of the Holy Spirit and the often difficult discipline of Christ, where the Word of God becomes a living and life changing force upon our being. We must work with God to build our lives upon the Solid Rock.
Jesus explained that a person who hears his words (all his teachings) and does not do them is like a foolish man who built his house upon sand. When the storms came, this man’s house was destroyed. Likewise, when the last days’ storms come pounding down upon everyone, those Christians who did not embrace and do all that Christ commands will find themselves in dire consequences. See Matthew 7:24-27.
Growing in Grace through Discipline in the Lord—to Discern, Avoid, and Escape
Not many Christians realize that persecution and coldblooded evil can suddenly be thrust upon them. The threat of physical harm is increasing everywhere just a Jesus and the Apostles warned. Few know how to walk in the Lord’s guidance, his grace, and his protection. Why?
Because most avoid the harder teachings of Christ and the sound teachings of the Apostles. Shortcuts are taken that bypass the discipline and trials ordained of God that breaks denial, wakes one up to their carnal issues, and transforms Christians to become Christ-like in nature. Most are taught to imitate and act like a Christian through self-effort, learning to mimic instead of becoming truly change in character by the hand of God. (See 2 Corinthians 3:18.)
Grace and holiness comes through the discipline of the Lord and this is what Christ meant in the type of strength that must garnered through a prayerful relationship with God. “It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it” (Hebrews 12:7-11).
It is the fiduciary responsibility of every true leader and ministry to watchfully and effectively correct, challenge, and shepherd those in their care to become disciples of Christ and learn to be led by the Holy Spirit. However, most in leadership are in ministry for the money or to boost their ego.
Leadership everywhere in the body of Christ must realize and take to heart that they are held to a much higher obligation to the Lord and will have to give an account for their sinful attitudes and motives of heart in ministry and in life.
“Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you” (Hebrews 13:17).
“Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness” (James 3:1).
An aspect of our ministry is to help ourselves and others prepare mentally, emotionally, and physically— as well as spiritually. Trained in the emotional, mental, and physical to avoid trouble and stop a physical threat that may be thrust upon us while on the streets, shopping, attending fellowship, or in the suppose safety of our homes. (We also teach those in our care how to detect false Christians and wolves who can socially and spiritually attack those in fellowship.)
Krav Maga is the training that we use to help prepare, avoid, escape, or stop a threat upon our lives physically. Unfortunately, as good as this type of martial art discipline is, it does not forewarn in advance of a threat. However, being trained and disciplined by the Lord and led by the true Holy Spirit affords protection and guidance, where the gifts of the Holy Spirit such as a word of knowledge, prophesy, or warning dream can warn days in advance to stay clear of an evil situation.
Because we have committed our lives to the discipline of the Lord and desire to embrace all that he commands, we have experienced deliverance by way of God’s direct intervention. Sometimes by the incarceration, or an affliction of evil doer opposing us, and even preemptive death has come upon an evil person sent by Satan to harm one of us. All to protect us and deliver us from evil and the evil one. Similar to when the Lord took out Ananias and Sapphira, or when the Holy Spirit used the Apostle Paul in blinding Elemis the magician, or by instant death of Herod by an angel of the Lord. (See Acts 12:20-23).
The End Will Not Come All at Once—A Call for Endurance in Persecution
Jesus also spoke of the end of this age in these terms: “See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is at hand!’ Do not go after them. And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified, for these things must first take place, but the end will not be at once… Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. But before all this they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name’s sake. This will be your opportunity to bear witness. Settle it therefore in your minds not to meditate beforehand how to answer, for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and some of you they will put to death. You will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your lives” (Luke 21:8-19).
Thankfully the end is taking its time. God is gracious and merciful in not allowing Satan to quickly create anarchy and chaos in melting down all civility and destroying the foundational fabric of a once stable society. Satan would like to see the end come all at once in order to capture a multitude of ignorant and unprepared Christians. To thrust them into the valley of decision stunned, gullible and unprepared that they might embrace the anti-Christ’s new world order and rulership.
Satan would like to not only take out the foolish Christians as explained in the parable of the ten maidens, but also capture as many sleeping wise maidens as possible, (sincere believers who are unprepared). Thus Christ in this parable warns, “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.” (See Matthew 25:1-13).
So these terrible times of persecution, stress, and lawlessness are dragged out in a slow progression by God’s grace and mercy. To create Christ-like character and instill the strength to endure, so that many wise but asleep Christians wake up, become ready so that their lives may be spared. To emphasize Christ word previously quoted: But the one who endures to the end will be saved -and- By your endurance you will gain your lives.
