Peace and Security, then Sudden Destruction

Don’t let Trump’s Restoring America Advances Lull Us to Sleep

by Charles Pretlow 06/18/2018

“Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, ‘There is peace and security,’ then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-6).

Most Christians are in a Deadly Trap

Jesus frequently warned to stay awake always, especially in the last days of this age. Unfortunately, only a small number see the hour that is now upon us. And even within that small remnant, few are prepared to endure to the end of the coming terrible ordeal that is about to begin.

Those few Christians who believe in the post tribulation rapture are children of the light. Yet knowing the truth concerning the end of this age doesn’t make one prepared. Jesus warned that hard times would come upon Christians as the birth pangs of the coming kingdom turn into the Great Tribulation period.

Christ said, “But the one who endures to the end will be saved” (Matthew 24:13). And elsewhere in Scripture, Christ warns, “But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:36).

Do not let the current patriotic surge with the election of Trump and his administration successes lull you to sleep. Sudden destruction and severe trouble is looming. This coming destruction will catch most Christians off guard and unprepared.

I will touch briefly on how to become prepared later in this post, but first let me update all of you on the mail out campaign we completed last week.

Mount Rainier Warning Update

First, thanks to those who prayed and for those who gave financial support to help cover printing and postage costs. At the end of the day last Wednesday, we had a little over $14.00 in our account from mailing over 375 books with cover letters. Continue to pray.

We sent mailers to the churches in towns and cities all around the MT Rainier mudflow danger zones, all the way down to Tacoma Washington. We are praying about sending more mailers to churches in the Seattle area and Olympia area. We also sent mailers to TBN, CBN, GodTV, The Jim Bakker Show, and several other major national ministries.

Believing the Truth Must Lead us to Action

For those of us who see earthquakes, the roaring of the seas (hurricanes), war and rumor war, the cry for security and peace, along with the Sodomite wickedness overtaking America and the world—we are truly blessed. However, let us not turn this knowledge into a trap within its self, for many see yet do not see.

It takes much more than just believing the truth about the end of this age to endure to the end. We will need spiritual strength, purity of heart, and the power of His might by abiding in the fulness of Christ to stand when He appears.

Pray for Strength and be Willing to Embrace God’s Discipline

Few are taught how to present their lives as a living sacrifice to God and then learn how to embrace Christ’s discipline and testing that transforms our old nature into Christlike character—to no longer be driven by the passions of the flesh and live in worldliness. Importantly, not play church religiously and smugly ignore the call to minister the truth.  (Review Romans 12:1-2 and Hebrews 12:7-11.)

There are many biblical principles that we must learn, in order that we may walk victoriously through the Lord’s transformation process. The main rule is to study and do all that Christ teaches in Scripture. However, today I want to focus on one principle: Taking ownership of bad thoughts, ill feelings, and lustful desires.

Most Christians are taught to ignore, pretend away, perform religious rituals, or carnally create a Christian personality to suppress inner disturbing issues. The foundation for these errored approaches in walking and growing in Christ is based on false doctrines. Teachings that put at ease the born-again Christians are destructive lies.

The most insidious false teachings states that if you are born again you received a totally renovated heart and personal spirit.

Wounded and defiled Christians, when experiencing troubling thoughts, feelings, or compulsively act out one of the works of the flesh, become devastated. Because of the lie that a born-again believer instantly receives a new heart and a pure personal spirit—when reality hits—many fall back into secret sin, or fall away from Christ, or learn to become a religious hypocrite.

Simply put, Jesus taught, “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” Matthew 12:34. Thus, catching the thoughts before speaking or acting is just one step in holding ourselves accountable to work with God to grow and become transformed. This is the work of every true Christian—to become sanctified by learning to work with the Holy Spirit in purifying the heart and renewing the spirit of the mind.

Scripture instructions believers to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Thus, every thought is to be caught and understood in the light of Christ’s teachings. And if those thoughts and feelings do not line up to that standard and not pass that test, then there remain issues of heart to be dealt with.

The Apostle Paul wrote this: “Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 7:1).

Further, this passage from the book of James concisely describes God’s recovery and sanctification process: “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you” (James 4:8-10).

This is part of the work that will allow us to walk in grace and in the power of the Lord. That is how we receive the strength to get through the coming troubles.

Many Christians will find they have little spiritual strength of faith and lack an effective prayer life in Christ. Millions of seemly solid believers will be thrown into the valley of decision, lacking wisdom and a solid relationship with Christ.

Unless denial is broken, and we embrace God’s transformation work, we will not escape the coming trials.

Coupled with persecution and tremendous deception, many on-fire Christians will be sucked into darkness and be locked out from attending the marriage feast. Many unprepared believers will hear from Christ, “I never knew you, depart from me.”

Now is the time to give God permission to expose any dormant defilements, roots of bitterness, unbelief, jealousy, or passivity of faith that can easily cause us harm. Deeply hidden issues give Satan ground to sift us and if possible, destroy our faith.

Many are in denial like Peter. Even after Christ confronted and warned Peter, he still stopped up his ears. Christ confronted Peter saying, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers” (Luke 22:31-32).

Peter did not believe Christ’s assessment as being doubleminded and vulnerable. In the end, when Peter was put to the test, he denied the Lord and wept bitterly.

Christians who deny they have issues of heart and suffer instability with their walk will soon be put to the test. Many will be taken out by Satan. Are you doubleminded like Peter was?

Jesus allowed the devil to sift Peter to a point. Those who reject Christ’s warnings will suffer extra and many will fail in their faith, and in the end bow down to the coming antichrist rule.

Learn to take ownership of inner issues as they surface and seek the Holy Spirit as Counselor and Spirit of Truth. Don’t be afraid to let the Lord show you hidden issues you can’t see or don’t want to see.

Seek the gift of prophesy where secrets of the heart are revealed. Start by working with yourself, being led by the Holy Spirit, then as you work out your own salvation you will become qualified to work with others. You will learn to hear rightly and minister in God’s timing and in His grace.
