Extreme Intercessory Prayer to End the Coronavirus Blight By Charles Pretlow 03/31/2020
This pandemic is another birth pang judgment upon the nations of the world, including America.
In my March 24th message, I warned the following:
Intercessory Prayer for God’s Timing—Not the Devil’s.
This current pandemic is not the end, however, the spiritual powers of darkness driving this virus has the goal of making it the end. Satan wants the end to come before God’s timing, before true ministries are released proclaiming the only end-time good news, where a multitude will wake up and come to Christ. This multitude will come out of the great tribulation and become cleansed and saved by blood of the Lamb. (See Revelation 7:9-17.)
As this blight expands throughout the world and races into the heart of America, political leaders are feverishly locking down society in an attempt to slow down the viral spread. Through social distancing and closing non-essential businesses and ordering citizens to stay at home—there is now a virtual shut-down of society and the economy.
Gatherings of over ten people are ordered to stop. Restaurants, bars, public events and entertainment venues, sports events, vacations and normal travel activities are ordered to stop, where only travel to essential services is allowed. Work at home, stay at home, and travel is allowed for food, medical, or urgent appointments.
Drive through and pickup dining as well as shopping for food and essentials are approved but requires social distancing in all these activities. Among the non-essential gatherings are church services of more than ten.
In a Round About Way, God is Declaring the Visible Church Non-Essential
This last Monday, March 30th Rodney Howard-Browne was arrested for defying the shutdown order for his mega church in Florida. As senior Pastor, Rodney insisted that his church meetings are essential services and therefore exempt from the coronavirus orders.
However, contrary to Howard-Browne’s arrogance, reality is that this virus is a statement from Heaven: “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens” (Hebrews 12:26). The Holy Ghost bartender with his holy laughter mania has finally been shuttered, and rightly so!
Jennifer LeClaire, a proponent of dominion theology and a prime writer for Charisma, writes concerning Rodney’s arrest: “Prophetically speaking, what is going on here? Prophets have been prophesying about a “new era.” More churches are going digital in the face of this plague. But is this the beginning of a new era that will see the church persecuted in the United States?”
Most leaders across Evangelical, Pentecostal, and Charismatic denominations and fellowships are seeing a new era, but few realize the world, America and the Church are entering into the last phase of the birth pang judgements that will lead directly into the end of this age troubles, extreme persecution, the rise of the antichrist, the Great Tribulation, the rapture, the wrath of God upon the Earth, then Christ’s physical return to Earth to set up the physical kingdom of God.
The Lord is using this global pandemic to shake and shutter every church and fellowship around the world, to awaken His sleeping Church to the end-of-age reality. Except for a remnant, God’s people have fallen into passivity, oblivious to what is happening, living for church fellowship gatherings, worshipping worship music, living on events, gatherings, and obsessing for a feel-good buzz from what has now grown into a carnal fellowshipping addiction for a multitude of sleep walking believers. Most Christian are addicted to Churchianity and carnal-religious experiences, causing most to have a very weak relationship with the living Christ.
Most believers are in love with this age and the pleasures of this life and honor God with their lips, while having their hearts far from living a personal deep sacrificial walk with Christ. The Apostle Paul speaks to what real worship looks like: “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect (Romans 12:1-2).
The Lord is shuttering Churchianity and by doing so, declaring the end of the church age, and calling individual believers to become ready to stand before the Son of Man when He appears.
Unfortunately, the condition of God’s visible Church has lost its salt and light. Indeed, one of the next major birth pang judgment is persecution for Christians in America.
Arrogant leaders like Rodney Howard-Browne as with so many others have fueled this soon to be unleashed persecution madness against Christians in the United States: “But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep” (2 Peter 2:1-3).
Christians everywhere are now facing a test to see if they have a real relationship with Christ, when forced to be alone and shut in with God. Most will suffer withdrawals from their addiction to Churchianity. Few believers walk in the kingdom of God on Earth, ready to receive the coming physical Kingdom of God. Rather, most are lukewarm and about to be spewed from the mouth of Christ.
The lukewarm Christian may seem on fire and desirous to see America restored to a godly nation. The truth is that visible Christianity is ever grateful for the world’s blessings, as most stay conformed to the world, not discerning the hour. So, now God is attempting to shake His people awake so that they may humbly walk in the Kingdom life while on Earth and be “Grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:28-29).
The Remnant Must Stay the Course
The world, including God’s people have been forced to stay at home, to become still and know that God is. For the sincere Christian who is being made ready for the last days work of ministry, this passage fits this moment: “Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until the fury has passed by” (Isaiah 26:20).
The sincere Christian and prayer warrior who is awake to the hour must focus intercessory prayer to stop this virus. Not to pray to save America and the world but intercede for more time to get ready. From here on, each birth pang judgment will become Satan’s opportunity to facilitate his temporary takeover of the world prematurely, before God’s timing. Our motives in prayer must be according to God’s will for the world and for the Christian during these last troubling moments of this age.
The Ultimate Intercessory Prayer Warrior
Standing in the Gap for God’s Will to be Done, During these Last Days
Just as it was in Ezekiel’s day, the end of this age passivity has left few prayer warriors conditioned and ready to truly intercede. Ezekiel chapter 22 speaks to America and the visible Church of America, in that God is saying to the last day Christian: “And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none. Therefore I have poured out my indignation upon them. I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath. I have returned their way upon their heads, declares the Lord GOD” (Ezekiel 22:30-31).
Will You Stand in the Gap? To those who have been following this work over the years, and other such ministries, I am sending out the call to put yourself in the gap as a living sacrifice in this battle. To stand and take on intense warfare and prayer in order to end this blight. We must be willing to war against the powers of darkness that is pushing this pandemic beyond God’s appointed duration, to bring a premature end to this age.
God’s purpose is to shutter Churchianity, not to shut down remnant ministries called to carry forth the midnight cry awakening and help facilitate the final move of God.
But First, Sit Down and Count the Cost
Those of you who have participated in this kind of intercessory prayer and warfare should be familiar with the spiritual, emotional, mental and often physical counter attacks from the devil and his minions. If you have unresolved spiritual wounds, a double minded condition, carnal propensities, secret sin, or an arrogant attitude towards fighting the prince of the air, then take heed.
When you lay yourself before God to stand in the gap, you are enlisting your life and physical body to become a weapon in God’s hands. The Holy Spirit will use you to intervene against Satan’s work while you live, pray, sleep, eat, rest, at work, and all through your normal daily activities.
During this time of standing in the gap, you may experience extreme mental confusion, emotional outbursts and overwhelming sense of hopelessness. You will most likely suffer extreme tiredness, sleep disturbances, strained relationships and quarrels with loved ones for no apparent reason. There may be minor physical accidents, weird encounters while driving, or lack of ability to focus on routine duties or chores.
As a ministry, we have practiced standing in the gap for years, contending for God’s will to be done for individuals, people in crisis, for God’s people to wake up to the hour, and for lost souls to come the saving knowledge of Christ. We learned that the times for standing in the gap was not to be taken lightly, for the wrong reasons, or for the wrong people. To stand in the gap only when directed by the Holy Spirit and to bow out when overwhelmed or when the Lord says it is time to stop.
As we grew in grace and continued dying to our old carnal self, we learned to work out our salvation in fear and trembling, to become healed from past wounds to our spirit and cleansed from any past defilement that still lingered within, (just as the Apostle Paul taught): “Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 7:1)—in doing so, we became stronger in the Lord, grew in Christlike in character, and fought more effectively in the power of his might, having become more fully clothed in the armor of God.
If Standing in the Gap becomes Overwhelming
The other week, Pastor Mark, one of our associate pastors was led by the Lord to stand in the gap for me. Unbeknownst to him, I was in an intense spiritual battle with a bad actor involved with our ministry, in where I was holding this person accountable to give up their toxic busybody and meddling agenda. Like so many wounded and defiled Christians we minister to, this person can hit others spiritually when confronted for wrongdoing (a form or Christian sorcery). That was the case for me in this situation.
I had noticed a reprieve with the intensity of spiritual battle and later while talking to Mark, he mentioned that he had been led to stand in the gap for me. He explained that during this time he began to feel an energy drag, yet continued to battle on for a few more days. Then Mark began to experience unusual aches and pains and then his back began to give out during exercise.
It was at this point he realized that he was still standing in the gap for me. He knew it was time to take himself out from this battle, and he prayerfully did so, and within about forty minutes all the physical and mental symptoms lifted.
God works with and blesses courageous believers, so don’t shrink back from this call to stand in the gap. Though it will be intense and difficult, you will become even more strengthened in your personal relationship with Christ and you will see more prayers answered that glorifies the Lord. Learn to approach this type of intercessory prayer and spiritual warfare in humility and be willing to examine your heart for hidden unbelief, unresolved emotions, bitter judgments, jealousies, and selfish ambition.
Take yourself out of the gap in this battle to end this virus when the symptoms become too much. Pause and work with the Holy Spirit to further put off the old nature and be transformed within the spirit of the mind, to put on the new nature that is Christlike. (See Ephesian 4:22-24.)
If you are knocked off the horse, collect yourself, seek answers from the Lord, and be willing to get back on and fight. Resist the devil and he will flee, draw near to God and he will draw near to you.
Follow the book of James’ recovery and sanctification out line: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you” (James 4:7-10).
God is allowing Churchianity to be shuttered for a moment, to draw His people close to himself to become ready. When this virus ends, many Christians will pick up where they left off, dancing and prancing through life until the next major birth pang judgement smacks America, the world and Churchianity.
Now is the time to learn to stand in the gap and contend for God’s will, and become bond-servants of Christ, becoming a living sacrifice in a lifestyle of prayer, fasting and intercession—walking straight and lifting our heads, as our redemption draws near!
